DUBAI, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- Delegates focused on the topic of health on the fourth day of the UN climate change conference (COP28) held here in Dubai, pledging support for the world's most vulnerable people.

COP28 Director-General Majid Al Suwaidi said on Sunday that "climate change impacts everybody, but we are not all being affected equally. In fragile and conflict-affected settings, extreme weather events affect three times as many people annually compared to other countries."

"Despite this, people living in extremely fragile states receive a fraction -- up to 80 times less -- of climate finance compared to those in non-fragile states. The COP28 presidency is committed to driving action and consensus to change this," he added.

In keeping with this, Sunday was dedicated to health, as part of efforts by the COP28 presidency to focus global audiences on protecting communities from the threats of climate change.

The day also featured the first-ever Climate and Health Ministerial Conference, bringing together ministers of health and senior health delegates from over 100 countries.

COP28, or the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, is being held in the United Arab Emirates from Nov. 30 to Dec. 12.

The main topics of the event are the transition to renewable energies and the delivery of climate funds. To preserve nature and protect people's livelihoods are also on the agenda of global delegates.
