BUENOS AIRES, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- Franco Martin converted the decisive spot-kick as Platense advanced to the semifinals of Argentina's Primera Division second stage on Saturday by beating Huracan on penalties.
Walter Mazzanti put Huracan ahead with a 42nd-minute strike but Luciano Ferreyra equalized two minutes from time when he sent a long-range effort into the bottom-right corner.
With the game forced into a shootout, Fernando Tobio and Fernando Torrent missed their chances for Huracan while Mateo Pellegrino, Gaston Suso, Nicolas Servetto and Martin made it four penalties from as many attempts for Platense.
In Saturday's only other quarterfinal, Godoy Cruz also reached the last four with a 5-3 penalty shootout win over Banfield.
Emanuel Insua missed his attempt for Banfield before Hernan Lopez completed a perfect five from five in the shootout for Godoy Cruz. ■
