BEIRUT, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Saturday called for Arab support to rebuild a sustainable green economy in Lebanon in light of the Israeli attacks and their harmful effects on his country's agriculture and environment, according to a statement released by Lebanon's Council of Ministers.
At the ongoing 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) held in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Mikati called for the expansion of the financing scope of the 30-billion-U.S. dollar climate-focused investment fund, which was set up by the UAE to support clean energy and other climate projects worldwide.

Mikati said Israel's attacks had destroyed over five million square meters of forests and agricultural lands, as well as thousands of olive trees in Lebanon, depriving tens of thousands of people living in border areas of a vital source of income and exposing the country to the harsh effects of environmental degradation.
The Lebanese prime minister also called for the implementation of concrete measures at the COP28 to pave the way for a sustainable future for all. ■
