Hi Daniel,

Yes, stock levels in a lot of categories are certainly very low which is quite frustrating.

If you wanted alternatives to the Gibbon Classic line, then the options look mentioned look very solid as well.

I would lean towards the EG line.

Please find attached links to the products you mentioned on Amazon.

Flybold slackline -> https://geni.us/flybold_slacklinekit

Currently with all the COVID a lot of outdoor gear is out of stock, including most stuff listed in this great article.

Amazon has a couple of lines for sale.

What do you think of flybold or EG lines? We are a family of beginners.

Thank you.

Hi Shannon,

Thanks for the question. If we were to map out the skill progression on a slack line it would be roughly:
1) Learning to walk
2) Walking/sitting tricks such as walking backwards, walking on longer and thinner lines, walking on lines with different levels of tension, stand to sit and back up, bouncing etc
3) Jumping tricks

As you progress towards jumping tricks you want the line tension to be a lot higher which requires a “better” ratchet.

So one of the most cost effective ways of achieving this is to:
1) Buy a slackline such as the Gibbon Slackline kit (with tree protection etc)
2) As you progress buy a separate ratchet such as the Gibbon Trick Tension Anchor with the extra big ratchet. Follow this link I you want to see the product on Amazon -> https://geni.us/gibbon_tension_ratchet

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,
Pierce

I’m not looking to go crazy or anything, but I definitely want to do more than walk back and forth. Thanks!

Hi Trey,

Great question – slacklining over water is brilliant fun.

There are no real specific requirements for slacklining over water except that the line needs to be long enough.

Other than that it is more about the after care of the line i.e. you need to dry the line properly to avoid it getting mildew and smelling. It can take a while to dry, and of course you need to avoid putting the line away wet.

A wet line will tension differently and will feel different to walk on, and of course will be slightly slippery, but that is all part of the learning curve and fun.

You might also have to wash the line if it gets super muddy.

They can also slip more easily when tensioning them, but this is an issue with all tensioning systems, ratchet, weblock and primitive.

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,
Pierce
